Hristijan Delev is a Senior Consultant with Osterwald Rathbone & Partners, based in Skopje, North Macedonia. He served as the country’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Energy for several years, which allowed Hristijan to gain extensive experience developing investments, especially in utilities, oil and gas. Educated in Greece and the USA, his expertise includes, as examplea:
- Implemented the energy strategy for North Macedonia, which resulted in the construction of a €350 million national gas network and sale by auction of 60 small hydropower plants. This was achieved through Public-Private Partnerships (€150 million).
- Working with an international team of experts, Hristijan developed a distribution strategy for the largest pump storage hydropower project in the Balkan region.
- Implemented the national program for investments, which included free economic zones, state aid, tax packages and a global campaign “Invest in Macedonia.” It resulted in nine investments with a total value of €350 million in foreign direct investments. He also negotiated the most complex investment and tax packages with the largest international corporations.
- Hristijan designed a mining strategy, together with the associated legal structure, that resulted in over 75 new concessions for mineral resources being granted. Subsequently, four very large gold, copper, lead and zinc projects were initiated. Hristijan’s new strategy helped the mining sector in North Macedonia to grow by 9% per year.
Hristijan holds a BA degree in Finance from the University of Sheffield in Thessaloniki, together with an MBA from Latech University in Louisiana, USA.
