Matteo Bianciotto is a Senior Consultant with Osterwald Rathbone & Partners and is based in Italy and London. He is a mechanical engineer with over 15 years of experience in the energy sector with a strong focus on power markets, energy regulations and innovation. Matteo started his career with one of the leading hydropower companies in Switzerland and gained extensive experience dealing with both private and public clients. Thereafter, Matteo was a policy advisor for the Indonesian Minister of Energy and Natural Resources (ESDM) and helped with the implementation of the 2025 Energy Road Map

Matteo’s expertise covers a wide range of technical, financial and commercial aspects. He has led on the execution of continent wide pre-feasibility studies to assist multilateral development finance institutions to identify investment targets and has been involved in numerous research projects focused on innovation and deployment of hydropower technologies for short term flexibility services as well as long duration energy storage. He has advanced expertise in power markets, energy regulations, financial modelling and capital costs analysis, which are applied in economic valuations and quantum damage calculations. He has held leading roles in large international disputes in the oil and gas industry, hydropower sector, as well as media & television.

Matteo holds a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin and a Master in Energy Management from the ESCP Europe.

He is fluent in Italian, French, English and Spanish.
