Paul Rathbone is a Senior Partner at Osterwald Rathbone & Partners in London. He is a highly experienced consultant and corporate finance adviser with a wide range of skills in the energy, infrastructure and utilities fields. He has had a twenty-seven year career in consulting and advisory roles, including seven years as a partner with Arthur Andersen.

Paul’s business experience includes advising on public policy, strategy, regulation, valuation and transaction support. His past projects have covered all parts of the energy value chain, from upstream oil and gas through refining and petrochemicals and power generation to transmission, distribution and marketing. His clients have included Governments and State-owned entities in both developed and developing economies, large and small corporations, private equity firms and sovereign wealth funds.

Paul has a particular specialism in financial and economic modelling as regards regulated energy companies. He has led the development of sophisticated models for use either in valuations or for finance-raising and has significant experience in preparing and presenting finance and valuation cases to financial institutions. These models often include sophisticated market supply and demand calculations. In the oil & gas sector he has built LNG netback pricing models for project feasibility studies, as well as market supply and demand models for forecasting import capacity requirements and understanding of price impacts.

Paul is a Chartered Accountant with a BA in mathematics from Cambridge University.  He is fluent in German.
